Floodplain
We all hear the words “floodplain” but it’s not always clear what that really looks like. Here are some recent photos from places along the length of the HMC floodplain during rainstorms.
Henderson Mill Creek floods frequently throughout the forested area, whether it is in the official wetlands or not. In many places, the flooded area is very wide - wide enough that it encroaches on and/or enters the back yards of homes bordering the floodplain.
It is not reasonable to consider building a bike road, raised or not, through this frequently flooded area.
